MOUNT WASHINGTON, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Los Angeles police officers on Wednesday morning were involved in an hourslong standoff with a man armed with a gun who barricaded himself inside a car at a Metro light rail station in Mount Washington, authorities said.
The incident began just after 7:30 a.m. at the A Line’s Southwest Museum Station at 4600 Marmiom Way, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The suspect was described as a passenger; the driver was able to safely exit the vehicle.
More than a dozen officers were seen in position behind the car in which the suspect was barricaded. As of 10 a.m., authorities were waiting for a SWAT team that was summoned to the scene.
All train service was shut down at the station, and Marmiom Way was closed as the barricade situation continued.
Bus service was being provided for train passengers between Heritage Square and Highland Park, Metro said. Southbound buses were boarding at Avenue 57 and Marmion Way, adjacent to Highland Park. Northbound buses were boarding at Pasadena Avenue, between Avenue 37 and Avenue 38, near Heritage Square.
