Del Mar Foundation 2024 Summer Twilight Concert series
The 2024 Del Mar Foundation 2024 Summer Twilight Concert series held at Powerhouse Park in Del Mar kicked off June 25 and will continue on July 9, July 23, and Aug. 13, beginning at 6 p.m. with Zel’s Opening Act, followed at 7 p.m. with the main attraction. Concerts at the Cove
The city of Solana Beach and the Belly Up Tavern host the free summer Concerts at the Cove series from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Thursdays through Aug. 8 (except July 4) featuring local musicians at the Fletcher Cove Park stage, 111 S. Solana Beach initiates Bilingual Game Day
City of Solana Beach Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC), invites you and your friends to a Games Day Thursday, July 11 from noon to 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. This free event will take place at La Colonia Community Center at 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach.Bring a friend. Spread the word. One Paseo’s Summer Moonlight Cinema
One Paseo will present its Summer Moonlight Cinema series, a chance to enjoy a movie under the stars with family and friends on the lawn area behind Harland Brewing. Pacific Highlands Ranch Summer and Songs
The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch’s annual free live music series Summer and Songs will be held on Tuesday nights July 11 through Aug. 29 from 6-9 p.m. in the village square courtyard. The series begins on July 11 with TJ Moss. Guests are always encouraged to grab takeout from Village restaurants or dine on outdoor patios to enjoy summer nights. Toy drive for sick children
The Care ‘n Share Toy Drive is collecting new and gently used stuffed animals and toys through July 7. Bring them to the San Diego County Fair or go to carensharetoydrive.com to arrange pickup. Distributions go to sick children in the area.
Fire & Safety Expo and Firefighter Demolition Derby
The Burn Institute’s Fire & Safety Expo and Firefighter Demolition Derby presented by San Diego City Fire Fighters Local 145 is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 7 inside the Del Mar Arena, at the San Diego Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. Highlights include firefighting demonstrations and the Firefighter Demo Derby. Village Church hosts Christmas in July to benefit refugees
The Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe needs new and gently used items for its Christmas in July event that will help refugee families newly arrived in the United States. Items will be collected on Sunday, July 28 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in the church parking lot at 6225 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe. Clothing, shoes, toys, furniture and kitchen wares are among the items needed to help support the ongoing work of the Alliance for African Assistance and its Safari Seconds Thrift Store in San Diego. The group is currently assisting Ukrainian and Afghan refugees adapting to new homes in America.

North Coast Symphony to present ‘Look! Up in the Sky!’ pops concert
The North Coast Symphony Orchestra presents “Look! Up in the Sky!” pops concert on Saturday, July 13, at 2:30 p.m. at La Costa Canyon High School Theater, 1 Maverick Way, Carlsbad. The performance includes high-flying music from movie favorites Superman, Star Wars, and ET as well as Debussy’s Clair de Lune and Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks. Batiquitos Lagoon to hold family walk event
Batiquitos Lagoon will hold a family walk on July 20 at 10 a.m. Come learn about this beautiful, protected space, and join the event for a 1-mile gentle/flat walking tour. You’ll be guided by BLF docents who will share the lagoon’s history and talk about the species that live there as well as the plant communities of the lagoon environments. Attendees are recommended to bring binoculars to catch sight of some of the beautiful birds. This free, family event is good for all ages. Registration is required. Author of California Native Landscape gives talk
Batiquitos Lagoon hosts a free presentation at 10 a.m. July 13 on “Living with Native Plants” led by Greg Rubin, author of “The California Native Landscape.” Rubin will discuss the design, installation and maintenance of native ecology in a garden. Guided tours from San Diego Bay to Balboa Park
Bay to Park Paseo provides a free guided tour from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 6, along Park Boulevard from San Diego Bay to Balboa Park to see installations designed by leading San Diego artists. The 1.7-mile paseo, endorsed as an Impact Project of World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024, was created to encourage walking and to highlight the connection between the San Diego Bay and Balboa Park. The paseo includes up to 13 installations outside iconic locations along Park Boulevard. Fashion show at Air & Space Museum

Mission Bay kayak tour July 25
Ocean Connectors hosts a Wildin’ Mission Bay Kayak Eco Tour from 9 to 11 a.m. July 25 at San Diego Mission Bay Resort, 1775 E. Mission Bay Drive. The kayaking tour through Mission Bay starts from Paradise Point Resort & Spa or Mission Bay Resort. Community clinic starts diabetes education program
The Vista Community Clinic started a new Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support program. This program helps community members with diabetes manage their condition. Participants learn about nutrition, physical activity, medication and monitoring blood sugar levels. The program includes personalized education led by a certified diabetes educator, registered dietitian and health care professionals. School of Rock performance benefits Solutions for Change
A School of Rock performance July 9 and “pre-party” reception at the Moonlight Amphitheatre will benefit Vista-based nonprofit Solutions for Change, which helps families get out of homelessness. The pre-show party is at 6 p.m. at the Terrace with pizza, refreshments and a chance to meet the performers before the show. General admission is at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. The Moonlight Amphitheatre is at 1250 Vale Terrace Drive. Pride Yoga and Dance Party at The Rady Shell
The San Diego Symphony in collaboration with Fit Athletic recently announced the return of Pride Yoga and Dance Party at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on July 18 in celebration of International Pride Month.This event will mark the third year of Pride Yoga at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park during San Diego Pride Month. The hour-long yoga class will take place on the lawn starting at 7 p.m. led by Fit Athletic’s Viktoria Talbot. Yogis of all levels are encouraged to attend as this will be a general level class, with modifications instructed as necessary. After class, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park will be transformed into an epic Dance Party with returning musical guests DJ Sassy and DJ Dova. Additionally, an array of delicious cocktails, including the specialty drink of the evening — the “Pride Breeze” — will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
