CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Police are trying to figure out how a mailbox disappeared from a Cape Coral neighborhood.
Sarah Zroute’s $200 custom metal mailbox was black with white writing on it. The Illinois native just moved into a brand new home on Northwest 17th Place two months ago. She called the police after realizing the box was gone Monday morning.
“They asked if I had anything meaningful in there and if this was a case of stolen identity or anything like that, and I think I just had like pest control advertisements in there,” said Zroute.
There’s no debris, tire tracks or other damage near the home. Zroute has not set up her Ring doorbell camera yet. ABC7 talked with about a dozen neighbors but no one had any footage of the incident or saw anything suspicious.
If you see Zroute’s mailbox or have any information, you can call the Cape Coral Police Department at (239) 574-3223.
