Maine drops Trump from the voting ballot citing Jan. 6: Letters

The Issue: The removal of Former President Donald Trump from the voting ballot in Maine.

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, who made you judge, jury, and executioner? Apparently, you did (“Now Maine Dem big boots Don off ballot,” Dec. 29).

What were the exact actions and words of that former President Donald Trump prior to and on the day of Jan. 6, 2021 that you now believe were seditious?

Or are you attempting to cast aspersions with the intent to discredit Trump? If that’s the case, I hope he sues you for it.
So much for due process and the three branches of government — so much silly nonsense that is no longer necessary; we now have Shenna Bellows.

Get over it. Last I heard, it’s “of, for and by the people,” not “of, for, and by Bellows.”

Following the bombshell Colorado ruling that banned former President Trump from that state’s primary ballot, here we go again with election interference as Maine stoops to the same low maneuver.

Trump was never convicted of inciting an insurrection, nor evenso charged. Yet, bogus accusations are being fueled and driven out of fear that Trump will be re-elected.

There is no doubt in my mind that the US Supreme Court will overrule the asinine stunt of Colorado as well as Maine and put a kibosh on any other state that wants to ban Trump from its primary ballot. This is still America — we should let the voters decide.

This latest attempt, now in Maine, to remove Trump from the ballot, thereby eliminating choice by the people, would mainly be annoying if it were not extremely scary.

It seems that a chosen few have appointed themselves in charge, citizens be damned. Their attitude reminds me of that famous quote from George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

In Colorado and now Maine, the true believers in the “Trump is Hitler” rhetoric have gone into action to show their commitment to democracy and opposition to authoritarianism by attempting to remove Trump from the ballot. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to outlaw a write-in vote for Trump.

The “Trump is Hitler” crowd is a delusional bunch of power-hungry progressives who are in favor of democracy only when things go their way.

I believe that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, and that this is an attempt to steal it again.
Any suggestion otherwise is fraudulent, a desperate campaign of disinformation aimed at brainwashing the naive. Those behind it know what they’re doing, deliberately working to prevent Trump from being re-elected.

He’s too powerful for them, so they’re pulling out all stops, including undermining him via political hatchet jobs that should never see the light of day in a free democracy.

Is Manuel Noriega, watching this? If so, he’s probably saying to himself, “Who’d have thought that something like this would happen in the United States?”

Trump’s words on Jan. 6 before the so-called insurrection are up for interpretation by all sides, not Maine’s hapless secretary of state. Or are we truly living in a totalitarian state now?

Bellows’ removal of Trump from the Maine ballot is just the evidence everyone needs to demonstrate the Democrats’ effort to prevent him from becoming our next president is unconstitutional.

They tried everything, from the impeachment fiasco to charging him with every crime on the books, in order to avert what they perceive as impending doom when he becomes president.

I guess they have forgotten, or just don’t care, about his constitutional rights. This will eventually backfire on them in the long run. It is time to let the American people have their say, not the Democrats.
