One man was critically injured and taken to a hospital Wednesday after a house fire in Sauk Village, according to fire officials.

At 1:08 p.m., the Sauk Village Fire Department received a call of a house fire in the 1700 block of 225th Place, said Chief Stephen Barrett. When crews arrived, they saw the two-story single family home engulfed in flames, he said.

Three people who lived in the home were able to escape, Barrett said, but firefighters had to go into the home to save the man.

“My guys made a successful rescue of the victim,” Barrett said.

The fire was put out by 3:30 p.m., and no other properties were damaged, he said. The origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation, he said.
