A man apparently drowned Sunday while swimming with friends off an anchored boat in the San Diego Bay north of the Coronado ferry landing pier, officials said.
Someone called 911 at 12:15 p.m. to report the swimmer had gone missing. Coronado lifeguards, police and other agencies were brought in to help search.
The body was recovered about 2:25 p.m. in the water off Centennial Park, officials said.
“One of them went under and didn’t come back up,” said Sgt. Jose Torres, of the San Diego Harbor Police Department.
No information about the man’s age or residence was released. The name of the man also was not available.
