A man in his 20s told police he was robbed of his wallet and phone at gunpoint early Sunday after getting into a car near the University of Minnesota with men who said they were his Uber drivers, according to police.

Around 1 a.m., three suspects described as males wearing all black followed the victim from Sally’s Saloon on Washington Avenue to the “superblock” area of dormitories in the southeast corner of the East Bank campus, according to an alert from the University of Minnesota Department of Public Safety, which called the incident a kidnapping.

The man told Minneapolis police he got into a car after drinking alcohol. He said the three men told him they were his Uber car, according to Minneapolis Police spokesperson Sgt. Garrett Parten.

The victim told police he was robbed at gunpoint as he was driven around. The men dropped him off on Interstate 94 near Cretin Avenue, per MPD.

According to Parten, there were no injuries and no arrests have been made.
