A man who broke into a woman’s home in Logan Heights and sexually assaulted her was sentenced Monday to 50 years to life in state prison.
Ronald Earl Bray Jr., 35, pleaded guilty in San Diego Superior Court to assault with intent to commit rape for the Oct. 15, 2022, break-in at the victim’s Ocean ViewBoulevard residence.
San Diego police said Bray cut open a window screen and entered the 27-year-old woman’s home through the window while she was asleep, about 1:45 a.m. that morning.
Bray, who has multiple prior convictions for residential burglary, was connected to the case through DNA already on file because of those convictions, according to Deputy District Attorney Meghan Cox.
Bray also pleaded guilty to an unrelated carjacking and was sentenced for that crime on Monday as well. The prosecutor said DNA had connected Bray to the carjacking.
Along with the prison term, Bray is required to register as a sex offender.
