Mapping damage in Gaza: Where attacks, refugee camps and borders are

For nearly a month, Israeli airstrikes have caused extensive damage in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the most densely populated northern region, where residents were told to evacuate. Bombardment has killed more than 8,000 Palestinians and injured over 22,000, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Israel says it is targeting Hamas leaders and fighters in retaliation to Hamas’s deadly surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7. But an analysis of satellite imagery shows that places of worship, hospitals, schools and residential areas have also been damaged or destroyed.
