Mindy Kaling’s baby is a go-getter!

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Tory Burch New York Fashion Week show on Monday, Sept. 9, the actress, 45, revealed that her daughter Anne has begun her attempts to crawl.

“My baby is like, she can’t crawl yet, but she’s like trying,” Kaling tells PEOPLE about Anne, whom she announced she had welcomed in February via a June 2024 Instagram post. “She’s like revving. She’s immobile but she really wants to get going.”

“And I’m like, ‘No, not yet!’ I like that she can’t move that much,” the star continues. “It’s like nice and easier to watch her.”

Kaling, who is also mother to daughter Katherine Swati, 6, and son Spencer Avu, 4, also opened up about the prospect of taking her children to future industry events.

“You know, I think as of now only my oldest would be able to appreciate it,” the mother of three says. “My son is more into like a trucks vibe. So, unless Tory did like a trucks collab I think it might be lost on him.”

Kaling, who has kept the paternity of her children private, also spoke about how her kids have made her life easier when it comes to keeping up with fashion and beauty.

“I don’t wear lip gloss anymore because it just gets in my hair too much if I’m like in a rush with children — it just like smears all over,” the comedian says.

“So I am kind of just doing like a lip balm these days.”

Kaling’s comments come after she celebrated her son Spencer’s fourth birthday earlier this month. 

The proud mom celebrated her boy’s special day with a Cars-themed party that featured an outdoor obstacle course and themed birthday cake.

“Happy Birthday to my number one guy, Spencer Kaling (who woke up this morning and said, ‘I had a great night’s sleep and now I’m four!’) 🚗🚗🚗,” she wrote on Instagram.
