Jamie Tiller, co-founder of the influential archival label Music From Memory, died Sunday (October 15) in a “tragic accident,” the label said in a statement on Instagram and confirmed in an email. He was 44 years old.
Tiller started Music From Memory with Tako Reyenga and Abel Nagengast in 2013, compiling and reissuing records by the likes of Gigi Masin, Napoleon Cherry, and Suzo Sáiz, often boosting awareness of overlooked work that soon became beloved. Recently, the label has expanded to issue new albums by artists including Yu Su. Tiller was also a beloved DJ, mixing contemporary dance music with era-spanning international pop. He is survived by his wife and son.
