FORT MYERS, Fla. — It’s not every day you get to go on a shopping spree and pick out whatever you want, but a few local organizations teamed up to make it happen for a woman who used to be homeless.
St. Matthew’s House worked with Youth Haven and GL Homes to help the woman, whose name is Justice. She got to use a $5,000 stipend from GL Homes at the St. Matthew’s House thrift store on Metro Pkwy. in Fort Myers.
Justice picked up dozens of items like a bedroom set, a TV, a couch, pictures, patio furniture, and much more. Now, she’s moving into her first apartment with furniture to fill it with.
“It’s surreal because I’m young, and my route could have gone a completely different route from what it’s actually going,” said Justice, a former Youth Haven resident.
Justice is an artist who’s studying to be a middle school art teacher.
