Patrons of the Prado held its 2023 MASTERPIECE summer benefit fundraiser, “Out of This World,” July 8 at Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park.

The “Out of This World” celebrated the “cosmic” contributions to the San Diego community made by the organization’s 10 beneficiaries.

MASTERPIECE is the signature fundraiser of Patrons of the Prado. For the past 26 years, Patrons has contributed over to $5.4 million in grant funds to 10 beneficiaries that reside on the Prado in Balboa Park. The all-volunteer nonprofit mission is to preserve the legacy of art and culture, science, history and theater institutions. With the introduction of the Bucks4Buses program, Patrons has provided transportation to the Park for more than 250,000 San Diego underserved school-age students to experience the park, and it has provided grants for educational outreach to the beneficiaries, augmenting their own efforts.

Patrons of the Prado beneficiaries are: Fleet Science Center, Mingei International Museum, Museum of Photographic Arts, Museum of Us, The Old Globe, San Diego History Center, San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Natural History Museum, and Timken Museum of Art.
