Overcrowded Charlotte County animal shelter hosting adoption event

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. The Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County will host an event Saturday, July 22.

The shelter has reached its capacity and hopes to find a forever home for dogs, cats, and bunnies. As of Friday, they have a total of 482 animals.

The shelter houses 92 dogs, 105 cats, and 54 kittens. Some of the animals up for adoption can be seen below.

The event will take place at the shelter on 3519 Drance St. in Port Charlotte from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At the event, Food trucks like Caffe Cow and Grumpy’s Hot Dog will be available for the public.

There will be a special price for this event.

  • Large Breed Adult and Senior Dogs: $25
  • Adult and Senior Cats: $25
  • Kittens: Adopt one, get one half off! For a pair of adorable kittens, the adoption fee will be $225 instead of the regular $150 each.
