The P.F. Chang’s location at 1205 Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, Calif., is closing.
Mikaella M. via YelpP.F. Chang’s is closing its Walnut Creek location at Broadway Plaza, as first reported by the Bay Area Telegraph. The restaurant’s last day will be June 23, when the lease expires, a representative of the company confirmed to SFGATE.
Earlier this year, P.F. Chang’s also closed its location at the Bay Street Emeryville mall. The Emeryville restaurant’s lease had also expired, the chain told SFGATE at the time. It is slated to be replaced with Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão.
Following the closure of the Walnut Creek restaurant at 1205 Broadway Plaza, the Asian fusion chain will be left with just three remaining Bay Area locations: Palo Alto, Sunnyvale and Pleasanton. P.F. Chang’s has over 300 locations in more than 20 countries, including Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Guatemala and the United Kingdom.
The chain was founded in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1993 by Paul Fleming and Philip Chiang, the son of famed Chinese American chef Cecilia Chiang. Chiang was best known for her San Francisco restaurant The Mandarin, which she opened in 1961.
Other recent Bay Area chain restaurant closures include Rubio’s in San Jose (a Southern California-based chain known for its fish tacos), California Pizza Kitchen at Bay Street Emeryville, BJ’s Restaurant in San Rafael and Red Lobster in San Jose.
