CTA train passengers were injured, at least three critically, Thursday morning when a Yellow Line train crashed in the Rogers Park neighborhood, said Larry Langford, a spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department.
According to preliminary information provided by the CTA, at approximately 10:39 a.m., a Yellow Line train made contact with rail equipment in the Howard Rail Yard. Langford said it was a snow removal apparatus.
The Howard Rail Yard is near the Chicago-Evanston border.
Both Yellow and Purple line service has been temporarily suspended, the CTA said. Yellow Line riders should use the #97 Skokie bus route as an alternative.
Purple Line riders can use the #205 Chicago/Golf bus route or other adjacent bus route, the transportation agency said in its statement.
