One of LA’s most popular bagel spots, Pop’s Bagels, has taken over a prime Beverly Hills location capturing an old-school deli feel and serving up hot breakfast sandwiches. Opened yesterday, November 29, this is the fourth store for the budding bagel chain, with locations in Brentwood, Culver City, and Fairfax, thus far. The slick design pays homage to classic New York establishment Russ & Daughters, with rounded counters, illuminated signage, niched tabletops, and retro sconces.

The menu resembles other stores, with five different kinds of bagels for $2.50 apiece, $3 gluten-free bagels, various spreads, and a wide set of open-faced bagel sandwiches served with Nova lox, tuna salad, egg salad, and tarragon chicken salad. In addition, there are egg-and-cheese breakfast sandwiches, a weekends-only babka French toast, and some luxurious extras like truffle-infused cream cheese and caviar toppings. It’s located in the ritzy Golden Triangle, after all.

Pop’s Bagels is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 477 N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. Preorders can be placed online or by calling (310) 867-1436.

Sonoratown’s next move

Cult-favorite taquería Sonoratown has two locations, the original in Downtown LA and another in Mid-City. Yesterday, L.A. Taco reported that Sonoratown will open its third location in Long Beach on Third Street, a short distance from beloved bakery Gusto Bread. Co-owner Jennifer Peltham told L.A. Taco that she plans to open Sonoratown in LBC within six months. Though the space boasts a larger kitchen, the plan is to serve the same menu as the other locations.

History of the Donut Man

Donut Man owner Jim Nakano tells CBS News about his childhood spent in a Japanese incarceration camp during World War II. Nakano was two years old when he and his mother were detained. He shared the story to counter those who doubt the camps, confirming them as a real and ugly part of American history. Still, he overcame the challenges and later opened Donut Man in 1972 because his wife liked hot doughnuts.

A Mean Girls pop-up

Commencing on the same night of the sequel to the iconic 2004 film Mean Girls, Variety reports that a Mean Girls Experience will debut on January 12, 2024, from MasterChef semi-finalist Becky Brown with Burn Book burger sliders, Stab Caesar salad, and Fetch strudel. Tickets include one entree and one side, a candy cane gram, and entry to the experience for 90 minutes.
