Pregnant influencer Jackie Miller James was awake and reunited with her baby on Sunday after being placed in a medically induced coma while being treated for an aneurysm, her family said in a statement.
The woman’s family shared an update about her condition on Sunday, more than a month after the health and beauty influencer suffered an aneurysm while 39 weeks pregnant with her first child.
“We are beyond thrilled to share that your loving prayers for Jackie have been working!” read a post on Jackie’s Instagram.
“Jackie is awake and was recently transferred to one of the best neurological rehabilitation hospitals in the country. The doctors have been pleased upon her latest tests, numbers, and evaluations, noting that Jackie is performing above expectations at this stage of her recovery and is progressing more with every passing day.”
The family added that “while Jackie is making wonderful strides, she has an incredibly long road to recovery ahead of her.”
Miller James was in a medically induced coma when her child was delivered by C-Section.
The baby was placed in her arms at the time, in a heart-wrenching moment captured in a photo and posted on a GoFundMe.
The baby was hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit for 12 days and was doing well.
“Jackie & Austin’s baby girl is a constant source of light for the entire family and continues to grow into a happy, healthy, and animated little angel,” the family’s update read. “Jackie has also recently been reunited with her baby, and spends a great deal of each day with her entire family while in the hospital.”
Jackie Miller James, 35, a social media beauty influencer was at home when she experienced an aneurysm rupture that led to severe brain bleeding, according to a GoFundMe, organized by family.
Miller James’ husband, Austin, found the expectant mother and rushed her over to the ICU where she underwent simultaneous emergency C-section and brain surgeries.
“If Jackie and the baby arrived a few minutes later at the hospital, we likely would have lost both of them. James’ sisters, Natalie and Nicelle, said on the fundraising site. “But instead, Jackie is continuing to fight for her life each day and we are optimistic she can beat the odds by surrounding her with the right specialists and methods of therapy.”
Miller James has been sharing her pregnancy journey with her over 27,000 followers on Instagram, giving frequent updates on her daily routines, skin care and symptoms.
Before becoming a full-time influencer, Miller James worked for a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills for six years, after she spent five living in New York as a backup dancer for all different kinds of artists.
