Canyon Crest Academy hosted the Ravens Cross Country Invitational on Aug. 31, with 70 teams and 2,000 runners from across Southern California competing in 1.5-mile and 3-mile races on the campus. The main event was the invitational three-mile finals, a course with two loops on the hard dirt and road with a finish on the track.
In the boys race, Canyon Crest Academy Luca Caruso pulled away in the last 400 meters and won with a time of 14:39, ahead of Cooper Castleberry from Poway and Camden Luecht of Rancho Bernardo High School. Luca’s time was the fourth fastest in the event’s history.
Chiara Daley, a junior from La Jolla, won the girls race in a sprint to the finish, followed by Ayanna Hickey of Bishop’s with CCA’s Katja Dunayevich taking third.
