IMMOKALEE, FLA. (JUNE 17, 2023) — Volunteer members of the Disaster Action Team from the Florida Gulf Coast to Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to a house fire on Palm Ridge Drive in Immokalee, Florida. The team, which is trained to handle disasters, worked to provide emergency assistance to five individuals affected by the fire, including two children.
The Red Cross offers emergency financial aid, health and mental health services, and personalized assistance to connect individuals with recovery resources. They will also continue to support the affected family for any ongoing needs resulting from the disaster.
The Disaster Action Team comprises local, specially trained Red Cross volunteers available 24/7 to respond to emergencies. They provide emotional support and information to affected families, helping them kick-start recovery. The Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge and is funded by donations to the organization.
