NAPLES, Fla. — Controversial Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene believes that the race for the Republican nomination for president is over.

The Republican from Georgia’s 14th District was in Naples over the weekend for a book signing.

The controversial figure was invited to Naples by Republican State Committeewoman Joann DeBartolo, to sign copies of her new book.

“To me politics is controversial, so I think she’s a great person and I think she loves our country,” DeBartolo said.

Taylor-Greene admitted not everyone agrees though.

“The national media kind of created a character of me that doesn’t exist, she said.

Here is the interview between ABC7 Chief Political Correspondent Dave Elias and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

DE: Do you feel as though you have been vilified to some extent?

MTG: Absolutely, especially if you ask my family and personal friends. They’re still outraged over some of the things people say about me.

However many people are outraged by the things Taylor Greene has said or done like shouting liar at President Biden during his State of the Union and for chasing down a Parkland school shooting survivor.

DE: Do you feel like you’re either loved or hated by other folks?

MTG:  It definitely seems that way although the people who absolutely hate me just don’t know me. They’ve never met me.

DE: The chairman of the Republican Party in Florida is facing some serious sexual allegations. A 13-page report mentions rape. Your thoughts on what this does to the party?

MTG: It’s extremely concerning. I hope that it’s not true because rape is awful. Those are very bad allegations.

DE: The governor has called for him (Christian Ziegler) to step aside. Should he?

MTG: If he’s guilty of those things… absolutely!

DE: Governor Ron DeSantis is running against President Trump, who you support. Your thoughts on his campaign so far?

MTG: President Trump is running away with this! The election is basically over.

DE: Would you suggest DeSantis get out now before we get to at least the Florida primary?

MTG: I suggest all of them get out. They should all drop out! I think we need to save these donors’ dollars and put it in the general and beat Joe Biden.

DE: There has been talk of you perhaps as President Trump’s VP pick. How would you feel about that?

MTG: I would be honored if President Trump asked me but of course that is up to President Trump.

DE: People say you’re anti-LGBTQ. Is that true?

MTG: No! That’s not true, absolutely not. You know what I am against though? I’m really against kids having these surgeries before they’re even finished growing up.

DE: You’re okay with adults making these decisions after the age of 18?

MTG: Absolutely! Adults can make their own decisions. I’m not judging those people and I never would.

Just before the cameras stopped rolling, Marjorie Taylor Greene made one final comment.

“Thanks for asking that question. That’s a big lie about me and it hurts my feelings a lot,” MTG concluded as the cameras went dark.
