Russia-Ukraine war news: Gershkovich detention upheld; Britain backs Ukraine NATO entry

A Moscow court rejected American journalist Evan Gershkovich’s appeal on Thursday against his pre-trial detention, upholding an earlier decision to keep him in custody until August. The Wall Street Journal reporter has been held for nearly three months, as press advocates worldwide call for his release.

In Kyiv, the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, said Ukraine expects to receive an invitation to NATO with an “open date, but with concrete signal” at a summit of the military alliance’s leaders, which will be held next month in Vilnius, Lithuania.
