Don’t doubt Sabrina Carpenter.

On Monday, the singer reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Please Please Please,” and she posted a photo of the announcement, alongside a not-so-nice comment that she had received about the song. The person wrote, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone fumble a second single this hard. my goodness.” (He later responded to her good news with, “Congrats diva! Made me eat my words!”)

Carpenter captioned her post, “ohhhh,” with four crying emojis. “I’m a grateful grateful grateful girl.”

Carpenter has a reason to be proud of her feat. Her song did even better than her last single, “Espresso,” which topped out at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and still ranked fourth this week. And “Please Please Please” is her first song to top the chart. She’s released five albums since 2015, and her Short n’ Sweet, which includes both “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” comes out Aug. 23.

“Please Please Please” is special to Carpenter for at least one more reason than its chart position: her real-life love, actor Barry Keoghan, stars in the video.

In the video, the Girl Meets World alum and the Saltburn star play lovebirds who first lay eyes on one another when she’s leaving prison and he’s on his way to serve his time behind bars, and she returns to the venue to visit and to pick him up.

Carpenter and Keoghan confirmed their romance at the high-profile Vanity Fair party that followed the Oscars in March.

Earlier this month, Carpenter explained to Rolling Stone that her musical success as of late is something she knew was in her future.

“I’m literally just annoying,” she said with a laugh. “I never had the plan B, and it wasn’t even a thought in my mind that it wouldn’t work out. I just always knew it was about not if it would happen but when it would happen.”
