Sam Armytage has bounced back after a recent hip replacement operation.

Taking to her social media on Thursday, the 47-year-old updated fans with a cheeky post that showed the Farmer Wants a Wife star getting ready to take a spin in her car.

‘Off the opioids and back in the driver seat both metaphorically and literally,’ Sam captioned the selfie.

The former Sunrise host smirked behind the wheel of her car as she covered her eyes with dark sunglasses.

She informed fans in the Instagram story that ‘The car was off for this pic.’

Sam also explained she was undergoing post-operative rehabilitation classes.

In the accompanying photo, which was taken several weeks ago, the former Sunrise host was seen getting up and about with a pair of crutches.

Sam used the share to thank friends and followers for supporting Farmer Wants a Wife in this year’s Logies.

‘And thanks to everyone in my hip outpatient rehab class who’s already voted,’ she said in the caption.

Sam had the major surgery after suffering from a ‘severe’ case of osteoarthritis.

Earlier this month, she posted to Instagram to share post-operative photos at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney.

She posted pictures of herself on crutches as she detailed her recovery and gave fans an insight into the major procedure.

Sam also explained she was undergoing post-operative rehabilitation classes 

In a lengthy caption, Samantha explained she has been suffering with osteoarthritis after tearing cartilage in her right hip.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease which sees tissues in the joint break down over time, and is more common in older people.

She explained she underwent a hip replacement to treat the condition and reassured fans she is doing well amid her recovery.

Recovery from hip replacements can be slow, with dedicated physiotherapy required.

She penned: ‘Hip, hip hooray. New hip, new me, no worries. A few weeks ago, I had a total hip replacement.

‘After a very active, outdoorsy childhood (& a skiing accident 30 years ago) I’d torn all the cartilage out of my right hip.

‘It was bone-on-bone & then became full of severe osteoarthritis. I’m so proud of how strong my body is & how well I’ve healed.

‘I’m now truly bionic, and my nearest and dearest are pleased to not have to watch me limp around in pain anymore.

‘Huge thanks to the wonderful nurses @stvincentshospitalsydney for the care, a lil’ bit of Endone (pic 5), heaps of rehab and all my beautiful friends for my flower-filled room!

‘Fun fact; there are 54,000 hip replacements done in Australia each year, but I have to say, my surgeon Dr Michael Solomon is THE best.’
