Semi-truck driver fatally injured in I-294 crash – Chicago Tribune

A semi-truck driver was killed early Tuesday when he was ejected from his vehicle after it struck a wall on Interstate 294 near Northbrook, according to the Illinois State Police.

The accident happened on northbound I-294 near mile marker 52.5, according to the ISP.

The identity of the driver has not yet been released by authorities.

The crash happened at 2:23 a.m. Police said the victim was driving a Fed Ex double-trailer semi when the truck left the roadway for an unknown reason.

The driver was ejected from the truck and was brought to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
