FORT MYERS, Fla. — The owners of Southern Fresh Farms are selling after they decided to retire.
“It’s not a decision that came easily and it was a decision that came all of a sudden,” explained owner Robert McMahon.
Robert and his wife Shelly took a trip this summer that made them rethink their lives.
The McMahons are in their 60s and if you’ve been to the farm, you know they never take a day off. So, they’ve decided to sell, with hopes that someone will keep the farm running just the way it is.
“We’d really love somebody that loves the farm, knows what it is, what it means to the community,” Robert expressed.
But at the end of the day, Robert said money will be a factor in their decision.
“As anything, everybody’s got their price and I wish I could stand here and say I’m a crusader and this is what it is… but I’m human,” Robert admitted.
Even though the farm doesn’t go on the market until the first of next year, they’ve already heard from some interested buyers.
