LEE COUNTY, Fla. — With the first official day of Florida’s bald eagle nesting season starting on Sunday, Oct. 1, the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam (SWFEC) announced the live streaming of the nest area while M15 searches for a new mate.

October begins Florida’s bald eagle nesting season, and Patriarch M15 is looking to remate after matriarch Harriet went missing in February this year.

She is, unfortunately, presumed dead.

According to SWFEC, M returned to the area with a new female bald eagle, both bringing nesting materials and showing strong signs of a possible new courtship.

However, competition for a mate is fierce and can sometimes become a battle to the death between two eagles.

SWFEC is ready to livestream Season 12 with its brand new setup, featuring two strategically placed ultra HD 4k cameras.

Cam #1 is equipped with night vision or infrared light (IR).

The glow on the camera is invisible to the naked eye. The eagles do not see any light and remain undisturbed.

It will again have the functionality to pan and zoom on the action happening in the nest, providing an up close view into an eagle’s ecosphere.

Cam 2, the “Nest Cam,” will feature eye-level up close footage of nest activity.

A 360 video camera returns after sustaining damage last season during Hurricane Ian.

Cam 360 will also allow viewers to experience real-time 360 views of M and any future Eagles in the nest.

Since its establishment in Sept. 2012, the SWFEC has received more than 210 million views from over 190 different countries worldwide.
