A new location of grocery store chain Sprouts Farmers Market opened Friday in San Jose, according to a press release.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Friday morning just before the new store at 615 Coleman Ave. opened at 7 a.m. Sprouts is celebrating the grand opening with events all weekend, from face painting to seasonal produce tastings. Customers who use the Sprouts app will receive 20% off their purchases all weekend. On Friday and Saturday, the first 200 in-store shoppers will also receive a free reusable bag of samples.

This is the fifth location of Sprouts to open in San Jose and the closest to the city’s downtown area. Sprouts also confirmed to SFGATE in February that another San Jose store at 375 N. Capitol Ave. is slated to open in the second quarter of this year.

Sprouts Farmers Market is a natural and organic supermarket chain headquartered in Phoenix with more than 380 stores across the country. More than a third of those are located in California. The chain also opened new locations in Merced, Stockton and Lathrop this year. Additionally, the chain is building a store in Pittsburg that is expected to open in late 2024, part of a development called the San Marco Commercial Center.
