After finishing the first day of the D.C. State Athletic Association track and field championship with a slight lead, the St. John’s boys were trailing early Thursday and in danger of letting it all slip away.
But the Cadets stormed back over the course of the second day of competition at Dunbar, and by the time the gun sounded for the 4×100-meter relay — the meet’s second-to-last event — the program’s monopoly over this event was secure. The Washington Catholic Athletic Conference program took first place in both the men’s and women’s outdoor championships for the fourth consecutive year.
