Subtropical storm Dom forms in Atlantic

As of the 5am advisory on Friday morning, Subtropical Storm Don has formed in the northern Atlantic.
The center circulation of the low pressure area has stayed well defined overnight.

Don is subtropical because it is embedded within an upper-level trough and has a relatively large radius of maximum
wind.

Don is likely at its peak intensity already and will slightly weaken over the next few days with drier air wrapping around it and it will be moving into cooler waters.

Elsewhere in the tropics, it’s quiet. There is no other tropical development expected in the next week. Mainly because of all the dry Saharan Dust stretching across the Atlantic. We’ll keep you updated through hurricane season which ends November 30th.
