Teen Volunteers in Action San Diego Chapter 3 (TVIA SD3) held its annual Kick-Off event Aug. 17 at San Dieguito Park. TVIA is an organization of young men committed to developing community leaders through a structured program of volunteerism. Kick-Off is their largest meeting of the year and marks the beginning of the 2024-25 volunteer season.
TVIA SD3’s chapter-wide Leadership Development Program is designed to equip teens with essential skills to become better leaders in the community. At Kick-Off, the chapter Leadership Team organized and facilitated targeted group activities to help each class (7th through 12th grade) develop and strengthen specific leadership skills, according to a news release.
The chapter Philanthropy Team and Teen Leadership Council organized a donation drive to benefit Sports for Exceptional Athletes (S4EA). S4EA works with athletes with developmental disabilities ages 5 through adult. Their goal is to create opportunities for people with and without disabilities to interact and form lasting bonds of friendship through shared sports and recreational activities in their community. S4EA is one of the over 55 local philanthropy organizations that this chapter works with. Every month there is a calendar full of volunteer events where TVIA teens and parents have the opportunity to help those in need across San Diego.
