Thousands of pounds of TGI Fridays boneless chicken bites products are being recalled because they could contain pieces of “clear, hard plastic,” according to an announcement form the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Simmons Prepared Foods Inc., which is based in Van Buren, Arkansas, issued the recall for around 26,550 pounds of the chicken product, which are described on the packaging as “chicken breast fritters with rib meat with a honey barbecue sauce packet,” after consumers reported finding clear, hard plastic under the breading of the chicken bites.

The products subject to recall were sold nationwide in 15-ounce cartons labeled as “TGI Fridays Boneless Chicken Bites Honey BBQ Chicken.”

The affected products were produced on Oct. 3, 2023. They bear the lot code “KL3KO3” and a Best By date of Dec. 26, 2024, on the side of the box, as well as the establishment number “P-20287” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

While there have been no confirmed reports of injury or illness from consumption of these products, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says those who are concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

“FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” the recall notice states.

FSIS says the products should be thrown away or returned to the place they were purchased.

The recall notice did not specifically list what stores sold the products impacted by the recall.
