Robert Frost Sesquicentennial conference: This will be the final weekend of a five-day conference, honoring the 150th anniversary of Robert Frost’s birth, with poetry readings, discussions and workshops. Vietnam Veterans Memorial tour: “The Wall That Heals,” a traveling ¾-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from Washington, D.C., with a mobile education center will be in El Cajon. There will be an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wells Park and the playing of taps is planned at sunset that day and March 22-23. A closing ceremony is at 1 p.m. March 24. San Diego Latino Film Festival: This is the final weekend for the San Diego Latino Film Festival. The lineup of featured films come from around the world in categories such as narrative short and documentary feature. Tractor rides and selfies at the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch: A spring day calls for a stroll among the flowers, and a guaranteed spot for bright blooms is the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. The fields can be visited daily through Mother’s Day, along with activities on the ranch, including tractor wagon rides, mining for gem stones and a strawberry shack. There will also be special events throughout the season. Saturday is kids day at the ranch, with bubble-making, professional yo-yo competitors, face painting and BMX performances. Culinary choices include chickpea smash, cucumber chive or ham and tomato sandwiches, mini charcuterie boards, salads and fruit pies on a stick. Beer and dog festival: Barks and Brew Fest returns to the Waterfront Park on Saturday.
