Thursday

San Diego Asian Film Festival: This is the final weekend for the San Diego Asian Film Festival. There will be three films shown tonight, followed by a gala at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. On Saturday, multiple films are showing throughout the day and evening, including a special presentation of a rediscovered 1914 silent film, “The Oat of the Sword.” The festival will close with a showing of “Mustache,” with a filmmaker Q&A. “The Little Fellow (or — The Queen of Tarts Tells All)”: Cygnet Theatre presents the world premiere of Kate Hamill’s play about the real-life Regency-era English courtesan and blackmailer whose memoir exposed her famous Regency-era lovers. 7 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays; 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Free series on Oaxacan culture: The Oceanside Public Library hosts a free series of family-friendly workshops and events this month and in December celebrating Oaxacan culture, “Creando Memorias en Oceanside.” An Origin Story Art Workshop is from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Crown Heights Community Resource Center, led by Oceanside artist and muralist Sandra Carmona, who will guide attendees as they create artwork. Taste of University Heights: The University Heights Art Association combines two community events, the UH Arts Open tour and the Taste of University Heights, into a one-ticket, one-day event this Sunday.
