Refresh for latest…: New this weekend at the international box office, Warner Bros began pre-domestic release on Amazon MGM Studios’ Red One. The opening numbers on the Christmas-themed movie are within the range we expected heading into the frame, coming in at $26.6M from 75 offshore markets.

For Latin America, the film ranked No. 2 behind the 3rd weekend of Venom: The Last Dance, but results are above comps like Central Intelligence.

In Europe, and at today’s rates, Red One s tracking ahead of Central Intelligence and Skyscraper.

Asia, as previously was never expected to excel; however in the region, (excluding China and Japan), reviews were mostly positive, and the film ranked as the No. 1 or No. 2 U.S. film in all but  two markets. At the end of the day, and as we have previously noted, this is not a movie expected to resonate in this region.

Breaking down the Dwayne Johnson/Chris Evans-starrer, the UK gave it a No. 2 start, ahead of a number of comps. Mexico was a No. 2 start, with families dialing in; Spain it it took No. 1 .

The films is performing well in many markets, but we have to be honest about Christmas just not resonating everywhere.

With another solid overseas hold, Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance continues to defy expectations, now at $279.4M in international box office, and $394.2M globally as it tangos towards the four-century mark. This third weekend licked up $33M from 66 offshore markets (-51% versus last frame).

The Marvel symbiote is still generating interest in China, but this weekend did not lead the pack. Nevertheless, that remains the top market for the threequel at $82.8M with a Maoyan-projected final of $93M.

Rounding out the Top 5 markets to date are Mexico ($17.2M), UK ($14.3M), Germany ($11.5M) and Korea ($11.2M).

The Imax global cume is $29.6M.

Also heading towards a milestone, Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot added $9M from 80 markets this session (-49%), lifting the international cume to $161.6M and global to $292.M. The film has now surpassed Encanto overseas.

The Top 5 are to date are Mexico ($19.1M), UK ($16.5M), France ($11.7M), Australia ($10.9M) and Spain ($9.3M); the latter seeing double-digit uplift in admissions every day from Monday-Thursday during the local Fiesta del Cinema promotion, and despite ongoing strife in the Valencia region following catastrophic weather.
