We’ve lived in our home for nearly 40 years. Things break; things get old; things need upgrading. Maintenance, it turns out, is a never-ending story. And it never seems to be the right time for finding the funds to cover all the projects.
The same can be said for our cities: things break; things get old; things need upgrading.
Some of the recent coverage of the proposed San Diego sales tax hike only discussed the city’s ballot measure with just a brief mention of the other cities in the county proposing something similar. It’s worth noting that the San Diego County Taxpayers Association — “the San Diego Region’s Trusted Government Watchdog” — does endorse tax proposals for Escondido, San Marcos, Encinitas, Oceanside, Lemon Grove and El Cajon. It also endorsed 10 school bonds for Cajon Valley, Ramona, Santee, Valley Center-Pauma, Alpine, Bonsall, San Marcos, San Diego Community College, Encinitas and Southwestern Community College.
