Home cooks spend a lot of time chopping veggies, fruits, proteins, and more on their cutting boards, cleaning them frequently, especially after handling raw meat. But cutting boards can hold a ton of bacteria, which can be incredibly distressing for germaphobes like me. However, I recently found a solution to this problem in the Mind Reader E-Z Board, a disposable cutting board available at Amazon for just $8.

The Mind Reader E-Z Disposable Plastic Cutting Board has one roll of disposable cutting board paper measuring 12 inches wide. The entire roll contains 20 feet of paper, so you can divide it into approximately 16 12- x 15-inch disposable plastic cutting boards using the cutter built into the box. The plastic material is BPA-free and 100% recyclable.

Not only am I terrified of getting food poisoning from raw meat, but I also have food allergies, so it was nice to think about how this could help with cross-contamination. I opened the Mind Reader E-Z Board and was first surprised at how sturdy the plastic is; I expected it to feel flimsy, like plastic wrap. One side of the plastic is textured to prevent it from slipping off a counter or cutting board, and the other side is smooth. 

Like many cooks, I love my wooden cutting board but hate sanitizing it after handling raw meat. (I also passionately hate the alternative of using a plastic cutting board that then needs to go in the dishwasher.) So, I took the Mind Reader E-Z Board, placed it on top of my wooden cutting board, and got to work on some chicken breasts I needed to sear. 

I was pleasantly surprised that my chef’s knife did not slice through the plastic. When I was done, I simply tossed the plastic in the recycling bin and chopped veggies on the same wooden cutting board — a revelation! While I am not a camper, I could also see this being a home run for activities such as prepping outdoor meals. 

I’m not alone in my love for the Mind Reader E-Z Board.
