If you head over to Amazon dot com for Prime Day (or the Prime Day redux going on right) there is a lot to get through. But if you don’t want to wade through the Big Deal Days homepage or even through the nearly 100 BA-approved deals we have for you, here’s a little treat: This weird looking tool from a mysterious sounding brand is both on sale and truly excellent. And unlike a lot of the other discounts going on right now, you don’t need to be a Prime member to take advantage of it.
The Fluicer, from Dreamfarm, is the best handheld juicer I think I’ve ever used. It just gives me big Shark Tank vibes. The squeezing jaws are flipped on their sides from the vertical orientation most juicers have. As a result, you can use even more leverage as you crush lemons, leaving not a single drop of juice behind. Not only that, because you’re squeezing the lemons in instead of down, the splatters are almost nonexistent. The seeds also get trapped in a little built-in channel.
I don’t want anyone to be surprised though: the Fluicer is made of plastic. But even so, it’s felt very sturdy over extended use in my kitchen. BA contributor Adam Campbell-Schmitt spent time thoroughly testing one of these and his takeaway is that, if you have a whole basket of lemons to squeeze for lemonade or a big batched cocktail, it’s the only way to go. Dreamfarm’s squeezer is faster, more efficient, and takes less effort.
The Fluicer, along with a totally serviceable Dreamfarm zester (which is a hand tool you really should be replacing every year or two anyway to make sure you have a sharp one in your drawer), is almost 40% off their regular $30 price tag.
If you were planning on writing off this year’s second round of Prime Day as just another stop in the indistinguishable march towards the holiday shopping season, I totally get it. But, for 20 bucks you could upgrade your tool drawer and have a conversation starter to show friends when they come over.
