From classical and jazz to pop and country, there’s a little bit of everything when it comes to holiday-themed concerts in Chicago. Whether you’re interested in a quiet evening at a wine bar or a rowdy drag show downtown, this season’s selection of events is sure to please. Here are our choices for five of the best shows taking place in December.

Kick off the holiday season with Kenny Lattimore’s “Christmas & Love” show at City Winery. Lattimore’s two-decades career includes R&B staples such as “Never Too Busy.” Expect his blend of soul, classical, gospel and jazz as well as tunes from his 2016 Christmas album “A Kenny Lattimore Christmas.” In addition to holiday classics (“I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “O’ Holy Night”), the record also includes a number of originals.

7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St.; tickets $48-$68 at citywinery.com

The Hideouts’ eclectic variety shows are part of what makes the venue special. Arrive early with your kids for family time, hosted by Adventure Sandwich. later in the evening, audiences can enjoy country tunes from the Lawrence Peters Outfit and classic holiday jams with Mr. & Mrs. Wednesday-Night and a collection of special guests.

4 p.m. Dec. 2 at The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave.; tickets $8-$10 for ages 14 and younger, $12-$15 for adults (guests under age 21 must be accompanied by a parent), hideoutchicago.com

Although he may be best known as one of the co-hosts of the popular podcast “Las Culturistas,” comedian Matt Rogers has also begun to make a name for himself as the “prince of Christmas.” Last year, Rogers released “Have You Heard of Christmas?,” a comedy special on Showtime that was equal parts satire and loving homage to the traditional holiday variety shows of the past. This year, Rogers released a dance-pop album of the same name in November. The 12-track record features songs from his Showtime special as well as remixes and new collaborations. His single “Also It’s Christmas” premiered with a cheeky and fresh music video. Catch him perform tracks from the new record during his local stop for the “Have You Heard of Christmas?” album tour.
