A representative at Total Wine confirmed that the upcoming store at 1750 Harrison St. will be San Francisco’s first flagship location but could not provide a specific opening date. According to the San Francisco Standard, the store is expected to open on Aug. 31.

In February, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved three liquor license transfers to Total Wine to sell wine, beer, and liquor. They also approved a Type 86 license, known as an instructional tasting license, that will allow guests to drink on-site.

The project seems to have been in the works since at least November 2022 when the wine retailer obtained city permits to install new wall signage and a standing sign. More permits were pulled in January 2023 to improve the building structure, which was formerly an Office Max. The forthcoming store will also be across the street from Rainbow Grocery and Pink Onion Pizza.

The national chain has more than 250 stores throughout 27 states, according to its website, with several Bay Area locations across Daly City, San Mateo, Fremont, and more.
