Total Wine’s Advent Calendar Has 24 Bottles for Nearly $3 Apiece

My home is always stocked with bottles of red wine and chilled whites since I enjoy sipping on a glass or two throughout the week. While I have my go-to pinot noirs and sauvignon blancs (my wines of choice), I love testing out new bottles with friends and family. Understandably, I was thrilled to test the wine advent calendar that is so popular, it sells out every year — and I’m gifting it to my loved ones for the holiday season.

That’s right, I’m talking about Total Wine’s $80 It’s the Most Winederful Time of the Year Wine Advent Calendar, which is filled to the brim with a mix of 24 bottles of reds and whites that come out to just over $3 apiece. The box is packed (safely, of course, with cardboard dividers) with a variety of options in 6.3-ounce unbreakable bottles, giving you a sizable pour per day — more than a standard glass, in fact. If you’re eyeing the advent for yourself or others, hurry and grab it while it’s still in stock.

The box has a festive holiday design on the exterior, with circular cutouts for the 24-day countdown in scattered positions that add to the fun of opening it. But the biggest excitement comes from what’s inside. I’ve always been adventurous in my vino consumption, and this calendar does not disappoint in offering my palate a variety of the dry wines I gravitate toward. It features Total Wine Winery Direct expertly curated bottles from Spain, France, Hungary, Chile, Argentina, and South Africa.

Every day, you’ll get a surprise of red or white from top brands like Magic Box, which has a variety of wines including sauvignon blanc, cabernet, and a red blend, Undivided chardonnay, Grand Sude malbec, Château Palène red Bordeaux, and so much more. Each bottle is packaged so that it’s ready to enjoy right away thanks to an easy twist-off cap.

While it’s not the holiday season just yet, I did have a sneak peak — and taste — of the calendar with friends, and I particularly enjoyed the smoothness of the Cavalys pinot noir and the crisp Wild Coast sauvignon blanc that comes from South Africa. Plus, they go so well with dishes like steak, turkey dinner, charcuterie, and more.

I’m clearly not the only person who is a fan of Total Wine’s advent calendar for myself and to give to others, as it sells out every holiday season. One shopper called it a “cute gift for a wine-loving friend,” noting that the quality is “much higher” than they expected. In fact, they “loved it so much,” they “ordered a second box” to enjoy on their own. Another customer said it’s “a wonderful way to sample different wines,” while a third person shared that this is an “annual purchase” for them because they “love the variety.” While I have opened some bottles one at a time, I’ll confess to starting the holiday celebrations early and grabbing several when I hosted a few friends for a night.

Now’s the time to stock up on Total Wine’s It’s the Most Winederful Time of the Year Wine Advent Calendar for yourself and your loved ones before it sells out again. Or, shop even more gift ideas from Total Wine below.
