DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. — According to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), thieves reportedly broke into Brownville School on Saturday and stole over $2,500 worth of toys just ahead of the holiday season.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, DCSO deputies responded to an incident in the old Brownville Schoolhouse at 7205 NW Highway 17.
They found that thieves had broken into the building, and stolen several toys, damaging many doors in the process.
However, these weren’t just one family’s toys.
The Brownville Schoolhouse now operates as a Toys for Tots holding facility.
It stores toys collected throughout the year for the entire Desoto County community until they are distributed during the holidays.
DSCO said the thieves left the old school with toys, ranging from bicycles to Lego sets, valued at an estimated $2,500+ in total.
Although the individual packaging may vary, use the attached photos above for reference.
DCSO is asking for the public’s help with this case.
