Tropical Storm Katia formed in the eastern Atlantic early on Saturday. It won’t be any concern to the U.S.

What You Need To Know

  • Katia formed on Saturday morning
  • It will move northwest in the eastern Atlantic
  • Katia will probably become post-tropical already on Sunday

Katia will be a short-lived tropical storm as it moves northwest in the open Atlantic. It’s well northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and won’t affect any land.

It’ll be weak for its short life as wind shear increases this weekend. Katia may become a post-tropical system already on Sunday, dissipating in open water next week.

We’re also currently monitoring IdaliaGert and another disturbance with the potential to develop.
