CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — Sunseeker Resort will be hosting training for their employees beginning on Monday and lasting for several weeks. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s (CCSO) office says that the area will see traffic delays for the next couple of weeks.
According to CCSO, drivers near the resort will see delays, especially from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Punta Gorda resident Ralph D’Orazio says he is not looking forward to the delays.
“I can’t wait to see the traffic. It’s packed as it is at the bridge,” said D’Orazio. “I thought they made a separate entrance for that.”
Resident David Dodsworth lives near the resort along West Marine Avenue.
“I suppose it’s impacting more of those people that have to work. You know, if they don’t want to commute at that time, I mean I’m sure it’s gonna be a headache for them. It doesn’t take much to pack the bridge up,” said Dodsworth.
He said while there will be delays in the area, he is okay with the changes
“If I was going somewhere further up 41 notches to meet me at the bridge, I would take 75. It just solves the problem,” said Dodsworth, “take a deep breath. It’s life, you know?”
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible, as high traffic volumes are anticipated.
