Travelers should check with their airlines before leaving for the airport on Sunday and Monday, as a spate of delays and cancelations hit California airports due to Tropical Storm Hilary. The flight issues are affecting both departures and arrivals to California.
Southwest travelers are the most widely impacted so far. Southwest is warning passengers that flights in and out of Burbank, Las Vegas, LAX, Long Beach, Ontario, Orange County/Santa Ana, Santa Barbara and Los Cabos may be delayed or canceled Sunday. Palm Springs Airport announced all Southwest Airlines flights in and out of the airport are canceled through Monday morning.
According to FlightAware, 27 flights have been canceled and another 47 delayed so far at Los Angeles International Airport. SFO has seen 22 cancelations as of 9 a.m. Sunday. Across the state line, CBS 5 in Phoenix reports that Sky Harbor Airport has canceled over 150 flights, many of them to California destinations.
