■ Best in the U.S.: Four North Texas cities have earned top marks as the best residential real estate markets in the country. Wallethub says in a report that McKinney and Frisco earned the top two spots out of 300 cities surveyed.
■ Leading in Jobs: North Texas is leading the country in office sector jobs, a key indicator in measuring a region’s economic strength. Yardi Systems says in a new report that in the past year, DFW has added 60,000 jobs in various sectors, accounting for nearly 15% of all office jobs in the country.
■ On the Rise: Home prices are continuing to inch up in North Texas. The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller report says that from May to June, DFW home prices continued their five-month upward streak, rising 0.7%.
■ Technology Move: Sherman, Texas will have mammoth semiconductor chip sites in the near future and Wilmer, Texas will soon have a solar panel manufacturing plant. Trina Solar, a Chinese-based company with U.S. headquarters in California, will build a plant that will encompass more than 1 million square feet in Wilmer, about 45 miles south of Dallas.
