Visitors to the upcoming Paris Olympics will soon have an easy way to save money on transportation.

Uber, the popular rideshare app, will be offering an automatic 10 percent discount on rides for passengers from Paris airports between July 22 through Sept. 8. The discount applies to arrivals from both Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Orly Airport Aéroport de Paris (ORY). Passengers can also save 30 percent if they use UberX Share within the city, as long as they are matched with another rider during the trip.

Uber shared the news of both promotions exclusively with Travel + Leisure.

The transportation company has also created a special website for information specific to the Olympics. Additional details of the 10 percent discount on airport rides and 30 percent discount on UberX Share rides will be posted on the site and Uber’s social media in the coming days.

“We’re excited to host tourists from all around the world in Paris this summer, and as a token of our appreciation, we’re providing all riders with a welcome discount when requesting a pickup from one of the major Paris airports or train stations,” Laureline Serieys, Uber’s General Manager of Ride Operations in France, said in a statement to T+L.

Over 15.3 million people will travel to Paris for both the 2024 Olympic Games, and the 2024 Paralympic Games, according to France’s Tourism Ministry. An analysis from travel firm BCD reveals that 6.4 million travelers visited Paris during the same period in 2023, which spotlights the spike in tourism for the summer event.

Due to the volume of passengers, Uber is also encouraging travelers to utilize other modes of transportation in France, such as reserving rides in advance with Uber Reserve and using a Lime e-bike, which can also be booked in the Uber app.

Uber also pointed out that it is sometimes faster to use a combination of Uber rides to get close to a venue, and then Metro or other public transportation to help finish the route which can help skip some of the more crowded areas.

T+L previously reported on other high-tech upgrades for the Olympics, such as Apple Wallet adding the Navigo pass, which is a refillable card for the public transit system.
