LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The City of Cape Coral is asking people to volunteer and join researchers in conducting a study on the long-term impacts of algal blooms on human health.
Due to the recent increase in harmful algae blooms this year, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Florida Department of Health, and the Florida Atlantic University are conducting this study to evaluate the health effects of cyanobacterial toxins.
The study will last approximately 16 weeks.
Sessions will be held in the City of Cape Coral’s Public Works Department at 815 Nicholas Parkway on the following dates:
- September 20
- September 27-28
- October 11-12
- October 18-19
- October 25-26
- November 2
Those who wish to participate must complete a screening survey.
