One of Los Angeles’s best ice cream shops, Wanderlust Creamery, is opening an outpost in Costa Mesa on Friday, September 13, marking the brand’s eighth location in California. Founded by Adrienne Borlongan in 2017, Wanderlust Creamery serves a rotating selection of globally inspired flavors with signature scoops like ube malted crunch and Vietnamese rocky road. The shop’s seasonal flavors change often and currently include chè Thái and Malaysian white coffee.

The new store at 3033 Bristol Street will be slinging a complimentary scoop of ice cream to the first 200 customers, with the first 50 customers receiving Wanderlust Creamery merch, too. A BOGO deal is extended to all customers on September 13 and 14.

Wanderlust Creamery is located at 3033 Bristol Street #133, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, and is open daily from noon to 11 p.m.

L.A. Taco’s Hadley Tomicki files a report on Sam Oum and his Cambodian barbecue pop-up Kreung Kitchen, which debuted in January 2024. Oum specializes in grilled meats — pork and beef skewers along with sausages — redolent with lemongrass, lime leaves, and galangal. Coconut milk-fortified rice and a salad dressed in a fish sauce vinaigrette are served alongside.

New provisions at Pijja Palace

A slew of new dishes will hit Pijja Palace’s menu soon. Up chef Miles Shorey’s sleeves are a paneer Parm sandwich, a burger, piri piri fries, and a whole lot more, along with new cocktails that incorporate Indian spirits and ingredients. All the fresh offerings will be on the menu by Monday, September 16. Also for sale are take-home jars of Miles’s Masala, the spice blend served with every pizza.
