A meat thermometer might strike you as an unnecessary expense, but trust when we say that if you cook any meat, you need a meat thermometer. There are ThermoWorks pens, the Lavatools javelin, and, of course, the numerous models from Meater—and now there’s going to be one more, much to senior commerce editor Noah Kaufman’s delight.

Noah Kaufman, senior commerce editor: “In the world of wireless thermometers, Meater has launched itself as one of the most recognizable brands out there, and they just announced what will certainly be its most useful product yet. The Meater Pro XL is sort of an updated version of Meater’s popular Meater Block—which gives you thermometer probes that nestle conveniently into a charging station and that can also double as a user interface if you don’t want to use your phone to check the time.

It comes with all the normal Meater stuff, like temperature data in the cloud so you can access it from anywhere and multiple temperature sensors. But the new Pro XL adds some really nice features, like probes that are both entirely waterproof and can withstand heat up to 1000℉. That means you can use the probes to deep fry or cook over a raging, open flame. It also means they are dishwasher safe (if you’ve ever seen the beating a wireless thermometer takes after sitting in a smoker for nine hours, you know that’s a good thing). The rest of the sensors in the probe can now read temps to 221℉, up from 212℉, which gives you a little more wiggle room. Meater also ditched the batteries used to power the original Meater Block in favor of a USB-C charger. I’ve tested out a lot of different wireless thermometers and the need to use AA batteries was always one of the things I liked least about the original Meater, so I think this is a big swing in the right direction.”

MacKenzie-Childs X Bialetti

Megan Wahn, associate commerce editor: I’ve been pondering splurging on an espresso machine for some time now, but this new collaboration from Italian moka pot maker Bialetti and home decor brand MacKenzie-Childs might just sway me to resist. While a moka pot won’t make espresso, it does make espresso-like coffee. And if you know anything about moka pots, then you know Bialetti is the best in the biz. While I find nothing wrong with Bialetti’s standard, sleek stainless steel silhouette, this collab perfectly marries the best of both brands—merging Bialetti’s unparalleled quality with MacKenzie-Childs’ whimsical, one-of-a-kind design. I can already picture it sitting on my stovetop.

Noah Kaufman, senior commerce editor: “Have a small kitchen? No storage space for a Vitamix or a giant espresso machine? Cuisinart sees you. They just came out with their Soho collection of small appliances with slimmer, space saving designs, most of which use single button-push operation (good news for folks who don’t want to fuss with a million different settings just to blend a smoothie). The line includes good looking options for a personal blender, compact two slice toaster, and a drip coffee maker that claims it can also brew cold coffee over ice.”

Fellow Carter Carry Water Bottle

Megan Wahn, associate commerce editor: I normally have anywhere from two to four different beverages sitting vigil on my desk at any given time. Perhaps I have an oral fixation, who’s to say. Anyways, I always keep my trusty Stanley Cup on hand at home, but I’m in the market for a more commuter friendly Big A** water bottle to swing around while on the go. Fellow, the brand that also makes our favorite kettle, just released an insulated ceramic tumbler that I’m throwing into the running. I like the minimalist colors and hefty size, plus it’s compatible with lids from a few other Fellow drink vessels I already have in my cabinets.

Jacobsen Salt x Oishii Koyo Berry Salt

It’s an infused salt made using Oishii’s vertically farmed Koyo berries and a touch of cane sugar, back in stock on August 22nd after selling out in a mere 36 hours after its initial run. I plan on rimming my margarita glasses with it for the rest of the summer and beyond.”

Stasher x Eric Carle
